This Victorian
House dates back to the days when the Santa Ynez
Valley was home to many varieties of wild game, and the current vineyards that now
produce some of the finest grapes and wines in the world, were just a dream. The
first farmers in this valley settled their families on the fertile land that was
later to become known as the western town of Santa Ynez. Although they found
summers to be very hot and rain scarce, they toiled from sunup 'til sundown to
produce some of the most wonderful fruits, herbs and vegetables. By redirecting water
from the Santa Ynez river, where steelhead trout at one time made their way clear to
the summit of San Marcos Pass, they were able to irrigate this land and to prosper
when others couldn't! Today we are fortunate to have their luck and to enjoy the
herbs from our garden and the fresh produce from our local farmers in order to
prepare for you a delicious, home cooked meal. We hope you enjoy your stay and
have a truly memorable evening!
